Why are the students confused? Because the teacher is confused. Why are the teachers confused? Because the principal is confused. Why are the principals confused? Because the district central office is confused. Why are the districts central offices confused? Because the intermediate school district is confused. Why are the intermediate school districts confused? Because the state is confused. Why is the state confused? Because the state does not put enough efforts to understand precisely what the Federal government is asking them to do or reform. Our generations can do far more than what they are asked to do in our present schools. With the enormous available knowledge that the internet can provide, our students can drive their own learning with the direction of experienced teachers. The role of teachers is to support talents and team with them toward discoveries. Passionate teachers are life long learners. I am one of those teachers.
From my teaching experience, I believe that our high school curriculum can easily be adjusted and taught in middle school. Technology, blended learning, on-line learning and effective demonstrations are what I use as a classroom and on-line teacher. Meaningful hand-on activities and laboratories using modern equipments are necessary. Many universities donate their unused laboratory equipments. In addition, schools need to seek the various summer programs provided by many universities for students. They are a great and pleasant way to spend a part of the summer vacation! I am teacher who believed and has worked to accomplished all this in the USA. We are in the USA. We are really lucky. I started my own website and published my on-line physics (Physics by Saab). I wrote it with a simple format and aligned with Michigan and National Standards. Also, The content supports the three Defining Dimensions of Blended Learning Models depicted by the International Association for K-12 Online Learning (iNACOL) I came to the USA in 1988 as a student and I joined immediately the graduate school at Wayne State University. I have taught at the Preschool through high school, college and university levels since the year since 1992. My strategies has been to ease the subjects for my students and provide them with comprehensive summary notes, presentations and projects. I happily spend my own money to provide instructional materials for my students. It is because of them I have my job and salary. I am proud of the generous evaluations that my supervisors, community members, and most importantly my students have given me. I was a full time instructor of science, chemistry and physics at Detroit Public Schools. I have taught organic and inorganic chemistry as well as biochemistry at Henry Ford Community College, University of Michigan and Oakland Community College. In each semester, out of 25 students who enrolled in the course, only 1 or 2 dropped the course. The passing rate was high. I received excellent evaluation from the students and department heads. I was awarded the USA citizenship as an outstanding researcher in medicinal chemistry. Every educational assignment is an equally important research. I have completed two action researches for both my masters in education. The subject of Master of Art in Teaching was challenging high school students to conduct research. The subject for my Master of Educational studies and International Baccalaureate was teaching strategies for English Language Learners.
Unqualified teachers, short vision administrators, unhealthy and unpleasant school building, all constitutes an obstacle for our talented generations. As a consequence, our universities get the survivors of that system and, certainly, not the most talented ones. I strongly believe that the plans of our Federal government for reforming education is a necessity. The proposed Federally-funded initiatives (the transition college and career ready standards and instruction; support for great teachers and leaders; turning around chronically low performing schools; or providing access and opportunity for all students from cradle to career) will create a harmony in operating the educational system. Additionally, the plans will motivate open minded educational leaders. Such leaders will have the in depth knowledge, and ultimately, the ability to weight the good instructional programs and play the key role advisor for all staff members. Such leader will create a bridge between the schools and the universities. Such leader will have the open mind and international thinking. Such leaders will have the vision and ability to discover potentials, expand thinking and for more opportunities that provoke enthusiasm. Such leader will have an proud understanding of the potentials of our country and will work faithfully for its role as a world leader. Such leader will have the passion to work and turn around low performing schools, because they also have potential future professionals. I can say without hesitation that I am one of the motivated potential leader. With the further support of the Federal government, I can be a role model for others.. From my experience as a researcher, a teacher and an administrator, I can say that the setting of some of schools does not respond to the 21st generation. We need critiques for food, classroom settings and equipments to include modern technology . In my blog, I listed The school Booker T. Washington STEM Academy as a good example. Our education became expensive. We spend more money on education than most of the other countries in the world. Yet, we do not perform as good as some of them. The problem may reside in the way the system operates the money. Some educational recruitment systems have an outdates scale that does not respond or understand advanced potentials. Therefore, any young, talented and motivated applicant, modern educational programs are ultimately rejected by this system. As usual, the students are the victims. My Preschool through university level teaching and research experience, my self interest in the educational reform, my international vision and outlook, my multicultural background, and most importantly my believe in the superior potential of our government, all equip me with the previous knowledge and tools to quickly digest complex information.
I am trained to experiment, collect data, analyze and report as well as write educational and scientific grants. I have several publications and presentations. I am a bridge between the schools, the colleges and universities. I know their weaknesses and strengths, and I can be of great support in smoothing the way between them. I have good relationship with my supervisors at all educational levels. I believe that books can be re-written to be more straight forward. College, university books and professors are efficient references. As a passionate teacher with a wide educational background, I took the initiative and started my own on-line physics (Physics by Saab). I wrote in a simple language that can be appropriate for English language learners or students who struggle with the language. I have written 60 lessons with a table of content and concept maps for each unit. I started my own website and I published my physics book. This will ease the job of the teacher in the classroom and give the time for more practice problems, hand-on activities, and extended long-term real life projects. I have been also an on-line teacher for the past 5 years. I always take courses to update myself for on-line learning. I took on-line summer classes for blended learning and establishing efficient websites. My family admires education. My father was a teacher. My mother was a principal. My brother and my sister are teachers. I can describe my personality as approachable having the sense of humor, the international thinking that accept other cultures, a person to trust and a good listener. I show care and concern to assist. I will do my best. I am very grateful to US, my new country, who adopted and trained me to be an open minded person. I have working in the public schools system since 2000. I know most of its flaws and what it needs to start the healing process. We have all the potentials, NASA, Harvard and all other fine institutions. We can learn from other successful countries such as Finland, China, India and Germany, who have reformed their educational programs and consequently boost their positions in the world. We can analyze, apply, refine and lead. Schools are the places where we grow the members of our society. We are capable to call for a better world once we fix our schools to be our important capital resources. We are in USA. Our generations along with our universities, our federal support, our multicultural society, our outlook and vision, all collaborate to boost our schools. Our graduates are then pioneers to peacefully reach the world and discover the universe. I strongly believe of the necessity of educational reform. I have developed this belief throughout my educational career. I am proud of our country USA as a role model for leading research in higher education. However, our schools do not perform as good. We must implement the change. The solutions are out there, we just need to act. Although, some institutions are undergoing reconstruction, their efforts are not fruitful and can not reach the target. Consequently, the students, our future generations, are the victims.
I have built my passion for educational reform since 2000. I have been following publications written by our fine professionals, published and supported by our generous government. I have acted to impart my knowledge through presentations, publications, participation in educational committee, communicating with principals, superintendents and teachers, you-tube videos and recently building my own website to support the reform in education. I offer consultation on education and curriculum for some local schools in Dearborn. They trust my credentials. My actions focused on the necessity to operate at a higher level and be ready for the change that our government is implementing. I have contacted local principals and explained the further potentials of their schools in terms of implementing new advance programs, reviewing the lunch menus and students’ safety, translating school documents to efficiently communicate with the local community, implementing basic science in early grades and extended projects in higher grades. I do not get defeated easily. I am a researcher and I am trained to retry one experiment many times until it works. I will keep on trying from any position I hold. Thanks for technology. It is allowing me to help, express my ideas and, most importantly, bypass all the walls to reach the students, my important and ultimate aim. I started my free website. I wrote and published my on-line physics course (Physics by Saab) for the high school teachers and students. My course supports all adopted physics book. It is aligned with the State and National Standards. My course is listed as a resource on some educational websites such as Wayne RESA. My site also include ideas and examples of interdisciplinary, college ready, chemistry and physics projects for high school students. I am listed as an independent vendor for on-line physics course. I have started a blog. I have the international look, therefore, I inserted google translate. I believe in the equal right of every students on the planet for a good education, aiming for a more peaceful world. Technology, languages and supporting of our government are certainly the vehicle assisting this mission. They kept on digging deep into history, until they woke up the enormous history giant who is starting to eat them up.
They kept on digging and swirling the water into history, until they created a giant whirlpool or eddy that is swirling them down. Change the equation has a very good website on advancing and supporting science education. Please, visit.

The article " Space Age" in the American School Board Journal, October 2014, Volume 201, No. 5 (pages 24-34), is very good.
"Our traditional classroom are outdated and incapable of realistically supporting new dimensions of learning" The school Booker T. Washington STEM Academy is the 2013 James D. MacConnell CEFPI Award winner for facility planning. "Magic in the Air" Teachers and students breathe easier in school buildings with good ventilation and air quality. That is how we need our schools to be for our generation. |
